Eskom and loadshedding

load shedding has dramatically changed the way people work, live and play

The way we live,Solar panels have become a common sight on rooftops in many neighbourhoods as homeowners look for ways to keep the lights on, and save on electricity costs.and the .Rising energy costs and changing regulations that make it possible to privatise energy supply will encourage more residents to include sustainable features into the home for some means to save power.

The way we play,Without electricity to power the electronics that keep us entertained at home, many people have reverted to more traditional games and activities to pass the time. Card games, like Cards Against Humanity, Codenames and good old Uno, are great fun, and add some competitive spice to a virtual night in with family or friends.

With the fact given that Eskom has relentlessly stunted the South African economy. Eskom, being the sole electricity provider for South Africa has fallen behind. Demand has drastically exceeded supply and thus has caused economic growth to become stagnant. Although there are several advantages to the monopoly, they are heavily outweighed by the disadvantages. It has become clear that competition needs to be created in the electricity industry to increase supply and being the sole provider in the market, enjoying abnormal profits, having freedom to control prices, being protected by high entry barriers, and having no close substitutes.

Moreover small business suffer from load shedding in the following way, production and productivity loss, Wi-Fi  goes down , security issues, payment issues, cellphone networks going down, electronic damage, increase traffic issues and increased costs in Alternative.

Which which makes the lives of Africans hard That load-shedding has resulted in an increase in house burglaries during the power cuts, and there are also related security risks to the banking and the cash distribution industry and possibly sexual assaults, like rape could possibly student at different institutions are deeply suffering, they cannot study nor do assignment, send emails for submission purposes ,but that all can not happen due to cellphone networks going down ,and evens are around the corner which brings frustration to students.

Please find the attached video of loadshedding and the 20th march national shutdown.

  2. It is no doubtful that load shedding has drastically impacted south Africans economically, socially,nd environmentally. Companies that consume more electricity are breathing through the wound because load shedding is delaying the process,if the process is delayed thus profit will decrease.
