Fashion Has embedded our popular culture : American content; celebrity influence

Fashion has infiltrated our popular culture, and the black style in which Africans used to dress, fertile and imaginative, is proliferating like an amoeba, splitting out into sub- genres. For decades, the global fashion industry has referenced African, but it has not been done so in the right way.

Take for instance, the majority of Africans did not dress for warmth, due to warm climates of the continent. Loin cloths or aprons were sufficient for men by the time, while women wore around their waist or breasts. This form of clothing were bark cloth, furs, skins and hides, and males simply wrapped the bark cloth that passes between the legs over a belt.

( captured by: Naro bushan, central Kalahari, Botswana)

Then colonization enforced a massive change in daily wear in African cities. Today, people in urban areas are warming up to traditional garments outside of special occasions, sometimes they just wear it for fun and for causalities.in today’s world, fashion is a way of life. Like other basic needs (such as food, water, and shelter), clothing is also one of the most essential elements of life. People remain concerned about their dresses. Their occasions decide the type of dress, as every occasion has a defined fashion style, such as: office wear, party wear, casual wear, festival wear, marriage wear, etc. In addition to this, if people follow fashion trends, they are noticed by their friends, colleagues, relatives, and even by strangers. Likewise, fashion trends do play a major role in human life.

celebrities are the major influence to fashion by wearing whatever is i style at the time but they also create trends for themselves. Some celebrities are known to having better knowledge with fashion than other celebrities, we sometimes look to them as fashion icons. Celebrities can set the rule of how to dress to a certain event or how to dress at a  certain age. People tend to dress a certain way because their favorite celebrity that they stalk on social media is wearing the same thing.'

have a look at the following celebrities that influenced the lives of their followers in terms of fashion.

I think that this influence of celebrities on fashion has forced a global  shift in our approach to fashion in terms of sustainability, shopping and as well as future possibilities. Although we are facing uncertain times, I believe that were somehow forced to look at that may be drawn toward it.The newly introduced fashion is ingrained in our DNA, and it might become impossible to go back to our root fashion. Fashion trends has become part of our everyday life.
