Citizens in the Western Cape have now to pay a fee for public police escort.Who on earth is supposed to pay for his/ her public safety as the rights to public is enshrined in the Constitution, enacted in 1996, aim to ensure safety by protecting citizens who come into contact with the law, and by obliging the state to provide adequate security from those who perpetrate crime.
Western Cape Police Oversight and Community Safety MEC Reagan Allen says no resident of the province should ever have to pay for the services of the SAPS.
This follows an incident that involved the Samora Machel and Langa police stations who notified members of the public they had to pay R75 for police escorts.
Allen says the mandate of SAPS is clear and it does not include communities paying for police services."I can confirm that the fee has been cancelled," said Allen.

DeleteSadly, fraud and corruption is now normal in our country. The authorities are doing it, the public servants also do it, and the public suffers. It's the new normal.
ReplyDeleteFacts that most of the government authorities are the ones mostly doing fraudulent activities instead of preventing it
